PersonA

Development of a privacy management system for personalized assistance systems in production and service

The aim of PersonA is to develop a privacy management system (PMS) for personal and sensitive data used in digital assistance systems. The use of the system is intended to increase efficiency in manufacturing and service processes in the long term.

Initial situation

Digital assistance systems, such as Smart Glasses, which are worn during work, can collect a lot of personal and sensitive data in everyday working life. However, the potential of this data has not yet been fully exploited. So far, they have been used primarily for monitoring the success of process steps, but not for error prevention, personnel development, process optimization or even minimizing safety risks. This can be attributed to questions of privacy and data security of employees.

Challenges

For digital assistance systems it is essential to record sensitive data. The success of the project depends on the acceptance by the employees on the one hand, and on the legal conformity of the developed solutions on the other.

Objectives and advantages

The aim of the project is to develop a privacy management system for the collection and processing of data obtained from the wearables. Employees should be able to decide for themselves whether data may be collected and further processed. This should increase the acceptance of innovative digital assistance systems among employees and consequently increase the general efficiency of manufacturing and service processes.

Promotion

This project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Social Fund. The Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA) is in charge of the project.
